You may feel lost, but the path is right beneath your feet.

“If the path before you is clear, you’re probably on someone else’s.”

—Joseph Campbell

Perhaps you find yourself at a point in life where the path ahead has become unclear, obscured by leaves and foliage, with no sign of anyone else having walked it before. You feel as though you've reached a standstill, unsure of which direction to go next.

Your first instinct may be to panic or force your way forward in hopes of finding the correct direction. However, there’s another, more powerful option…

“Start where you are — this is very important.
This is really the most important aspect of being on the spiritual path.”

—Pema Chödrön

When the path becomes unclear, trudging ahead anxiously and blindly may only lead to more frustration or confusion. Instead, sometimes the wisest action to take in this scenario is to simply pause, step back, and fully absorb the surroundings…

Set up camp right where you are…

Listen to the birdsong…

Notice the details of the environment…

From here, you can rest and reflect, reconnecting with the still small voice within. You may even find that clarity and direction naturally begin to emerge.

“Be still, and Know…”

—Psalm 46:10

In these moments of stillness, you may realize the path you were on wasn't truly yours, and there was never a specific destination to reach. It's then that you often discover the right path—the one meant for you—was beneath your feet all along, waiting to be noticed; it was only covered in foliage.

So — allow yourself to slow down, rediscover curiosity and gratitude, and listen to the inner voice guiding you toward your true path. As the saying goes, life isn’t about racing to a destination—it’s about the journey. Embrace discovery in each moment, letting curiosity and intuition lead you, even when the way ahead seems unclear.

There’s no need to rush.

If you pause and take a look around, you may even notice that you’re already in the middle of a beautiful shining oasis, surrounded by everything you need.

May you be led not by force or fear, but by the wonder and Wisdom within you.
